Halocarbon 25-5S Grease

Halocarbon 25-5S is a silica-thickened polychlorotrifluoroethylene grease designed for use with powerful oxidizers and other aggressive chemicals. It is the ideal lubricant for valves, seals and gears in both liquid and gaseous oxygen, chlorine, 90% hydrogen peroxide, 100% nitric acid, red fuming nitric acid, other oxidizers and other aggressive chemical services. The silica is subject to attack by hydrogen fluoride and related fluorine containing compounds. In these services, a polymer-thickened greases such as Halocarbon 25-10M grease should be used. Halocarbon 25-5S can also be used as a laboratory stopcock grease.

Shelf life based on customer experience is considered indefinite when material is kept unopened in original containers.

Halocarbon 25-5S Grease is not recommended for use:
  • With amines, including amine additives, antioxidants, etc.
  • In contact with liquid fluorine or liquid chlorine trifluoride.
  • With hydrogen fluoride or other silica-attacking agents.
  • In contact with sodium or potassium metal.
  • In contact with aluminum, magnesium and their alloys under conditions of large shear forces (in threaded connections for example).
  • At temperatures above 500 F (260 C).

Consult the MSDS before use.
