Halocarbon

Valves

Safe, inert lubrication for critical valves & connectors

Halocarbon fluorinated oils and greases are chemically inert, non-flammable, and thermally stable, so they will not ignite or react when they come into contact with oxygen, chlorine, strong acids/bases, or other aggressive media that routinely flow through industrial valves and fittings. These properties let maintenance teams extend service intervals, lower stem-torque requirements, and eliminate leakage in the world’s most hazardous process environments.

Key Performance Advantages

Reactive-gas compatibility—safe with O₂, Cl₂, HF, NOx, peroxides, and Lewis acids and other reactive gases

Non-flammable—no flash or fire point, even under 260 °C service temperatures

Broad temperature envelope—from cryogenic start-ups (-45 °C) to sustained high-heat operation (+204 °C) depending on grade

Ultra-low vapor pressure—minimizes out-gassing in high-vacuum or pure-gas duty

Excellent lubricity & anti-wear—reduces stem torque, prevents galling, and eases disassembly

Wide materials compatibility—safe on stainless steel, Monel®, Hastelloy®, PTFE, FKM, EPDM, and more

Where Halocarbon lubricants add value

Stem & packing interfaces

A thin, stable film on the stem and in the gland box lowers break-away torque, maintains stem alignment, and protects packing from chemical attack—critical for quarter-turn ball valves and rising-stem globe valves that cycle frequently.

Oxygen & chlorine service valves

PCTFE- and PFPE-based formulations remain non-reactive in high-purity or oxidiser duty, eliminating the fire risk associated with hydrocarbon greases and silicones.

Cryogenic & low-temperature valves

Lubricants that stay fluid at -45 °C ensure leak-tight seals during LNG, liquid oxygen, or liquid nitrogen transfer without embrittling soft seats.

Threaded connectors & quick-disconnects

Greases fortified with PTFE (and in the case of MT-3 I, molybdenum disulfide) fill micro-voids between male-and-female threads, preventing cold-welding and delivering a reusable, non-hardening seal.
